Recipe: Black Forest Cake

First you make the dough:

4 egg yolks
4 egg whites
2 tablespoons of cocoa
4 tablespoons hot water
2/3 cups of sugar
2/3 cups of flour
2/3 cups of corn starch
1 teaspoon baking powder

Filling:
1 jar (750 ml) of pitted sour cherries
1 vanilla pudding (if possible Dr. Oetker)
500 ml whipping cream
dark chocolate (1 chocolate bar)

Put egg yolks and hot water in your kitchen machine and beat until it is creamy, slowly add 3 quarters of the sugar and beat until it is nice and creamy. Beat the 4 egg whites separately until stiff and also add the rest of the sugar to that, put it aside for now.

Take the egg yolk dough and add the egg whites on top, then add the flour, cocoa, and corn starch mixture including the baking powder and mix with the whisk until you cannot see the flour mixture anymore. Put dough in an 8 inch round pan and bake at 350 F for about 35 minutes. Take out and let cool. Then cut cake in 3 layers.

Put first layer on a round plate, cook the vanilla pudding as the directions tell you, however, use the cherry juice from the jar instead of milk, if not enough use a bit of water to make 500 ml. Cook and let sit until cool, then put half of the cherries into this pudding mixture and spread over the first layer of cake. Then take the next layer of cake put it on, then on this layer beat the whipping cream, divide in 2 portions, and put the rest of the cherries with one portion of the whipping cream, then put on this layer. After that put the last layer of cake on and put in fridge over night to set. The next morning use the rest of the whipping cream and spread on top of cake and around the side with a whisk. To decorate you can use a few cherries set aside from the jar and put on top including some chocolate sprinkles as well.

It is quite easy to make.
