How to make old leather jackets look like new again

Well, first I checked here if I could find anything but no there was nothing. Then I tried something on my own and the result is fabulous.
If your black leather jacket (it has to be smooth leather) looks old and not as "black" anymore, try the following: (after that your leather jacket will look like new agai and is water repellant too)

1. Clean the jacket with a wet sponge to get rid of any dirt.

2. Take some black shoe polish and polish the whole leather jacket with a thin layer of it, use a cloth and also a good idea
is to put something underneath the jacket as it might get dirty from the shoe polish. It does not matter what kind of
shoe polish you use, it does not have to be an expensive one at all.

3. Let the jacket dry for at least one hour. During this time the polish gets nicely into the leather.

4. Take a soft old cloth (some cotton cloth which you can throw out after) and "polish" the whole jacket. I know it's a bit
of work, but the more thorough you do this, the better it is for the jacket and there won't be any colour stains left
behind.

5. Optional: If you want, you can buy some kind of wax shoe cream (mine is from bee and carnuba wax). You can polish
the whole jacket again from top to bottom. Then let it hang somewhere over night and you will be surprised how it looks
in the morning, how nicely it smells and how the jacket feels again, just like new.
