Last minute via booking early - vacations

A few years ago, booking last-minute was very popular. If anybody wanted to go on a vacation last minute, it could be done very cheap. However, times have changed and today last-minute vacations are not that cheap anymore. The opposite is true actually, people who book their vacations very early do get the best deals. You don't only get great airfares but you will also get the hotel of your choice for a reasonable price.

The reason for this and why this has changed is the following: When you book early you also have to pay right away as soon as you click. The travel industry gets their money early and they can calculate and plan better and also overbook by approx. 10% as a lot of times people won't be able to take the vacation they have booked early for all kinds of reasons. This way the hotels stay full and so do the flights, etc.
