Toothpaste for bleeding cuts

My husband has a blood disorder and is on blood thinner medications.

So when he cuts himself, he bleeds like crazy and it takes a long time for the bleeding to stop.
We received a tip to put tooth paste on the cut, and we noticed that the bleeding gets less and stops very quickly.

Now my husband always keeps a small toothpaste (you get those free from your dentist) in the glove department of his car, just in case he needs it wherever he is.
