If you have a lot of time and would like to see the world and still sleep in your "own" bed, try a trip on a cargo ship. You can find all the info on the internet about cargo ship cruises, etc. There are pros and cons: You only have about 4 guests on board, there is no entertainment program (therefore you have to take books, DVDs, etc. to keep you entertained), you eat at the same table as the captain, but in your casual clothes. The food is great, but not fancy. You can either chose to go on longer trips or shorter ones, that is totally up to you. You chose the continent as well. This is really a great way to see the world on a budget.
